Geoffrey Chaucer

Geoffrey Chaucer was born in London, although historians are not sure of what year he was born in, but the estimated years were between 1342-1344. Chaucer was remembered as one of the worlds most epic authors, who made a great contribution to English Literature. He is famous for writing The Canterbury Tales. He was very educated and learned to read three different languages, French, Italien, and Latin. He went to France with Edward III's army and got captured and was sent back to England after the treaty of Brétigny in 1360. For the next three years, there was no information recorded of his life. Then as years passed, he wrote poems such as Troilus and Cressida, The Book of Dutchess, The House of Fame, etc. The Canterbury Tales was left unfinished because of his death. Geoffrey Chaucer died October 25, 1400, and in 1555, a monument was built to honor him.
